Effect of Professional Ethics on Staff’s Personality Traits of Hazrate Zeinab College of Paramedical, Nursing and Midwifery of Langrud City

Abstract

Background and Aim: Personality is a factor which increases organizational performance. Compromise and coordination between the type of personality and work environment leads to more compatibility with occupation and profession, which in turn leads to a positive organizational performance. Considering the importance of this subject, the main purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of personality ethics on the personal characteristics of the staff in "Hazrate Zeinab" college of Paramedical, nursing and midwifery of Langrud city.

Methods: The research was a descriptive-survey study which was conducted by using a researcher-made personality ethics questionnaire and NEO Personality Inventory-3 (NEO-3). The questionnaires had content validity and their reliability was computed by the Cronbach's alpha coefficient, which was 0.801 and 0.877, respectively. The sample size included 162 people who were selected by a simple random sampling method. After distribution and collecting the completed questionnaires, data were analyzed by using SPSS -16.

Results: Among the 162 participants, 103 were female and 59 were male. The findings showed that the effect of regression between professional ethics and personality traits of employees was 12.786, which indicates the high impact of professional ethics on personality traits of employees. The coefficients of the regression effect between professional ethics and the components of personality traits of employees were recorded as follows: coefficients of 11.998, 7.554, 6.891, 6.781, which were related to social responsibility, organizational responsibility, belonging to the scientific community and self-efficacy, respectively.

Conclusion: The results show a high impact of professional ethics on the personality traits of staff in Hazrate Zeinab College of Paramedical, Nursing and Midwifery of Langrud city. It can be concluded that professional ethics has the greatest impact on social responsibility.
