Aim: Drug abuse is a universal problem and is pervasive in Iran. All young men must pass the military training and this high stress period can have a motivating or inhibiting effect on the drug abuse tendency. This study describes the pattern of drug abuse among these soldiers.

Method: This is a descriptive cross sectional study, which the statistic population included 322 Iranian soldiers from 13 provinces who were in military service at the time of study (2010-2011) and were selected by quota sampling method. Data gathering was done by addiction screening questionnaire, Addiction Severity Index (ASI), military duty status, and demographic questionnaire.

Results: In addicted soldiers, opium and marijuana abuse were ranked first and second (18.8% and 10.6% respectively). The most prevalent method of substance abuse was smoking (44.4%). Fifty five percent of the addicted soldiers have no access to the drugs at the place of service. The soldiers who had started alcohol before 15 years old have the highest prevalence of alcohol abuse(48.1%). The present study indicated that there is a significant relationship between the first and the current method of drug abuse, and also between the age of onset and the first substance used.

Conclusion: According to the onset of addiction prior to the military service, prevention must be done before this period. Due to ease of use, the tendency toward industrial substances is more likely that requires more consideration.

Aims: One of the main parts of the militaries’ education is the physical preparation training. We aimed to compare the effect of aerobic interval and continuous training program on maximal oxygen consumption (VO2max), Body Mass Index (BMI), and body fat percentage in officer students.

Methods: Fifty students within 19 to 23 years were randomly divided into two groups and underwent aerobic interval training (n=25) and aerobic continuous training (n=25). Each group participated in aerobic training for eight weeks and five sessions a week each session was at least 45 minutes. Aerobic interval training program included running periodic to distances of 100,200,300, 400 and 600 meters, with 80-85% heart rate reserve (HRR), and with rest between repetitions and periods and aerobic continuous training program included running continually, without rest, with 55-60% HRR. Data were analyzed by Paired Samples and Independent-Samples T Test, at a significance level of P < 0/05.

Results: There was no significant difference in body fat percentage within and between groups. BMI decreased and VO2max increased significantly in both groups and the only significant difference between two groups was in the VO2max value.

Conclusion: Aerobic interval training program may be more effective than aerobic continuous training program on improving VO2max, BMI and body fat percentage.

Aims: Quality of Work Life (QWL) is a multifaceted and relative concept that is influenced by time, place, personal and social values. Regarded these facts, the present study was performed to determine the relationship between QWL and stress management in The Foundation of Martyrs and Veterans Affairs employees in Hamadan province.

Methods: This cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted in 1391. The study population was all the employees of the Foundation of Martyrs and Veterans Affairs of Hamadan. the data was gathered using Holmes and Rahe Stress Scale and filled by the subjects simultaneously.

Results: The results showed that there are significant positive correlation between QWL and staffs' education (P=.031) and between QWL and their work history (P=.024). The Pearson correlation test also showed a significant negative relationship between the mean scours of the QWL and stress (P=.004). It means that the more QWL, the less stress.

Conclusion: Managers should pay more attention to their employees' QWL. They can create some QWL programs and open communication ways to influence their employees' participation in making decisions about their jobs and organizations. These programs need special consideration for the new employees and those who are in the lower levels of jobs.

Aims: Due to large sized genetic database of population in a given society, researchers face serious problem to analyze genetic data and provide accurate genetic identification. Variation in molecular markers such as SNPs, mtDNAs, STRs and Y-chromosome are utilized for different purposes, including genetic identification. In our country due to natural disasters and imposed war, the use of this technology was considered and according to the requirements, an optimal database was designed that has the capability of analyzing genetic data.

Methods: After obtaining individual genetic information, a software was designed for the analysis of genetic information as well as to serve as a common genetic database which contained application-specific local data search capabilities, characterization of individual genetic information, and its application. The software was named as NoorGIS.

Results: By use of NoorGIS software, it was possible to study and compare genetic relationship between individuals and a given population, investigate personal genetic information, process obtained genetic information by employing genetic similarities and information and also enhancing the capabilities of the software to achieve favorable outcomes in genetic identification. This software was assessed at the Human Genetics Research Center and successfully used to genetically identify unknown martyrs of the imposed Iraq-Iran war and military accidents.

Conclusion: With this comprehensive software, personal and genetic data can be stored and utilized for the identification purposes. The results are also approved from the scientific and legal aspects.

Aims: Identifying quality gap of services provided by hospital lead to preparing improvement projects and programs. This study intends to determine the quality gap in healthcare services provided by Shahid Elmi Field Hospital from the view point of Patients.

Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 100 patients admitted to the hospital in 2011 were selected randomly for the study. The data gathered through SERVQUAL Standard Questioner. The content validity and reliability was confirmed by specialist opinions and Cronbach's alpha coefficient, respectively. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics and two-sample t, Pearson correlation and ANOVA tests, using SPSS version 18.

Results: According to the patients' views, there is a positive quality gap in delivered services. The highest mean score of the negative and positive quality gap were related to Responsiveness (-0.02) and access (0.035) respectively. There was a significant relation between the frequency of referral and the quality empathy (p=0.05).

Conclusion: According to the results, the delivered services of the studied Field hospital is higher than the expectations of patients. It is recommended that processes related to delivery of services, in all dimensions of services’ quality particularly responsiveness and assurance, should be identified and reengineered.

Aims: Evaluation of patient satisfaction (PS) is one of the basic components of the quality of health systems. Accordingly, this study has been conducted to analyze the validity and reliability of Telephone Based Satisfaction Questionnaire of Baqiyatallah Inpatient (TBSQ).

Methods: This study was carried out on 731 inpatients admitted to Baqiyatallah Hospital during 2011 and 2012. Inpatients were selected by proportional stratified sampling method. In this study after checking content validity, the confirmatory and explanatory factor analysis and alpha method were utilized to examine construct validity and reliability respectively. Data were analyzed by SPSS and AMOS programmer version 18th.

Results: The obtained samples consist of 397(54.3%) women and 334 (45.7%) men. The explanatory factor analysis showed 5 factors with 77% total variance and 0.77 Kaser-Meyer-Olkin Index. The result also confirmed by the confirmatory factor analysis (RMSEA=0.04, GFI=0.95, AGFI=0.93). Reliability was measured 0.81 via Cronbach's Alpha method.

Conclusion: TBSQ appears to be a valid and reliable tool for assessing inpatient satisfaction and can be used in these situations.
